AI without Avokata

Sounds convincing

  • May cite a ruling that does not exist, or with the wrong number
  • May present a party's argument as the court's position
  • May rely on an outdated version of a law

And it is checkable

  • The case number in the court's own format and a paragraph you can open
  • Each excerpt says whose words it is: the court's, a party's or a lower court's
  • Which version was in force on your date, and which act amended it

§ 04Confidentiality

What we keep, said precisely.

Your AI provider processes the chat under its own terms. This is what Avokata does.

  • Queries

The text of the questions and citations your AI passes to Avokata is not stored. We record only that a tool ran, when and how many results came back, and a one-way digest.

  • What we keep

For the account: the email address and a hash of the key. Your text only when you save or send it yourself: a matter profile, your workflows, followed provisions, feedback.

  • Deletion

You delete the account and its records with one confirmation. Only call counts remain, with no account and no text. Servers and backups are in Germany (EU).

§ 06FAQ

Common questions.

What is MCP?

An open way to connect an AI assistant to outside sources. Avokata is such a connector: your assistant gets tools to read legal acts and court practice.

What does Avokata cost?

Free during the beta: nothing is charged. A signed-in account has 1,000 searches a day. Pricing

Which AI assistants does Avokata work with?

Any assistant that supports remote MCP connectors: Claude in the browser, on desktop or phone, ChatGPT, Cursor and others. Steps for each app

Do I need technical knowledge?

No. For Claude, one button and a confirmation. For another assistant, you paste the address into its settings.

Does Avokata store my questions and documents?

We do not store query text: we record that a tool ran, when and how many results came back, and a one-way digest your words cannot be recovered from. We store your text only when you save or send it yourself (a matter profile, workflows, followed provisions, feedback). The chat and any documents you give your AI are processed by your AI provider under its own terms. Privacy policy

Who at Avokata can see matter data?

There is no admin console. Matter profiles and workflows are reachable only through your connection, and in normal operation we do not read them. If you ask for support, we open only what your question needs.

8 more questions: data, security, keys
Where is the data kept, and who processes it?

Servers and nightly backups are in Germany (EU), with Hetzner; Cloudflare runs the network edge, DNS and email routing. Connections are encrypted (HTTPS), and data on disk and in backups is encrypted. If a personal-data breach may affect your account, we tell you without undue delay. Sub-processors

Do you have SOC 2 or ISO 27001?

Not yet. During the beta we do not yet publish an independent penetration-test report, a SOC 2 Type II attestation or an ISO 27001 certificate. Security reports go to security@avokata.com.

How do I rotate a key or export my data?

A key is optional. You see your active keys with avokata_account(action='keys') (the prefix only) and revoke an old one with revoke_api_key; it stops working at once. You export your matter profiles and workflows with export_account_data, and delete the whole account with request_deletion.

Can I search for a person?

No. Avokata does not search for people: rulings are shown as the courts published them, anonymisation included, and you search by legal question, provision, court and date.

How do I know whose words a passage is?

Every excerpt of a ruling is labelled: court's interpretation, court's findings, a party's argument (naming the party), the lower court's reasoning, quoted law or an indirect citation. The labels come from the ruling's structure and phrasing. Lawyers have not confirmed them yet, so they are preliminary.

How fresh is the data?

The coverage page shows each source’s last recorded update and the snapshot’s generation time. Check a document’s edition and validity separately. Each source and its date

Is the connector reliable?

An automated check calls it on a schedule. Over the last 30 days (2026-10-09 to 2026-11-08) it answered 708 of 725 checks (97.7%). This is a monitoring record, not a service-level guarantee.

Does Avokata replace a lawyer?

No. Avokata provides the sources; the lawyer draws the conclusions.
